Dr. Daniel Harrison is a man with a living legacy, preparing others for their future. His knowledge is others gain. He is a former chairperson of Speech, Theater, and Broadcasting Department at Kennedy King College in Chicago, Illinois. He was born in Montgomery, Alabama. Dr. Harrison constantly involves himself in programs and causes that reflect the desire of higher educational values for all. As a former professor of communication, His main objective was to involve himself in programs that were educationally attainable, socially acceptable and community centered.

In addition to his exemplary character in the area of education, Dr. Daniel Harrison is also a minister. He has ministered as a preacher with the Chatham-Avalon Church of Christ congregation a total of 45 years.  For thirty-four years, he has directed the Church of Christ Crusade in various cities paving the path for one of the largest soul winning efforts of the Church. He is also an active advocate of Southwestern Christian College (SwCC), promoting SwCC, raising funds for it, and working constantly with the administration to promote the quality of education that the college provides.

Harrison serves on the Board of Trustees of SwCC and was elected as a trustee after serving as Co-Chairman of the President’s Council 21. His commitment to education is not only exemplified in his extensive educational background but also in his leadership. In 1989, due to his extensive community work, he was named an honorary citizen of the city of New Orleans.

Harrison is a self-motivated man. He received his elementary education in Nashville, Tennessee. As a young man, he attended junior high school at the Nashville Christian Institute while the Honorable Marshall Keeble was the president. In 1960, Daniel Harrison enrolled as a student at SwCC, Terrell, Texas. Two years later, he obtained an Associate of Arts Degree. Soon after, in 1963, he entered North Texas State University (NTSU) in Denton, Texas to advance his education. While attending NTSU, he preached for the Ardis Street Church of Christ, Sulphur Springs, Texas.

Daniel Harrison did not stop there. Like a longevity battery he went on and on and on. He enrolled in the University of Illinois to gain a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication and followed-up immediately with a Master of Arts Degree in Communication. He must have thought to himself, “Why not go all the way.” So, he entered the University of New York, Buffalo, New York and acquired a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Communication and earned a new name, Dr. Daniel Harrison! The nature of his training emphasizes: interorganizational communication, interpersonal relationships, organizational behavior, and management perception in conjunction with administrative training.

Dr. Daniel Harrison’s professional membership includes the American Speech Association (ASA), teaching Undergraduate Communication, ASA Social Psychology and the Chicago Ministers Association.

He married his best friend and the love of his life, Frances Duncan-Harrison, from Valdosta, Georgia. Together, they were blessed to have two sons, Darrell Andre and Dexter Evan.
